Platforms:      Builds with GCC on Solaris2.5 (UltraSparc) and 
                Linux (2.2.16 - Intel and Sparc32). Needs (as far as 
                can be seen) v(s)printf and posix style socket/opendir 
                (etc) support. No other compiliers/platforms tried. Sorry.
