Unfortunately, ESRI products for UNIX won't work on OS X. Double-unfortunately, ArcView is pull-your-hair-out slow under VirtualPC, mainly because it is so very graphics-intensive, and VirtualPC is very slow with graphics. ------------------------------ Date: 14 Jul 2001 From: Tom Luhrs To: Subject: [*] [*] DiskSurveyor 2.5 This new version of DiskSurveyor has many new features and enhancements: - Support for Navigation Services - A new consolidated view of the main scanning window and the Pie Charts display, along with the new Bar Charts display - New network management capabilities - Improved performance DiskSurveyor is a utility designed to provide relief to frustrated computer users with cluttered hard drives. It doesn't promise to make your hard drive any bigger, but it does show you, *GRAPHICALLY*, what's using up all that space. Click on a folder and zoom in for a closer look. Or, zoom back out. Shift-click on a folder, and it brings up the ACTUAL folder so you and can drag the "offending" files to the Trash or your backup volume. Create DiskSummary files that list all the files found on CDROMs or any other volume. No longer will you have to waste valuable time navigating through folder after folder trying to figure out which files need to be archived or trashed to free up precious disk space. Of course it still supports classic MacOS (7,8,9). Colibricks is an exciting brick game for the Macintosh. The goal of the game is to destroy all bricks using one or more balls. Unlike other brick games, it features accurate ball behaviour, using very precise physical laws. Balls bounce off corners correctly, and even bounce with each other. And instead of boring horizontal grids, Colibricks features rotated bricks, even making circles and spirals with them. Graphics are antialiased with beautiful backgrounds. Of course, it's also a lot of fun. With special kinds of bricks that activate special effects or spawn prize balloons. Balls can grow or shrink to any size. The demo lets you play 6 levels of various difficulties. After registering, you'll get access to all 50 levels. (End of description) Colibricks may be included on CD Roms of the archives. File name......: EZNote v2.0 Date of release: 7/10/2001 Have you ever needed to quickly jot down a note and easily find it later? While Web browsing, have you ever wanted to copy text selections for later reading, without copying and pasting between applications or saving the text to a file? EZNote accomplishes these tasks, and more, at the touch of a key or a click of a mouse--without having to leave the application you are in! Pressing another key brings EZNote to the front with a listing of all your notes, which you can edit, delete, search, replace, group in categories, print, or move from category to category, (create as many categories as you like), with ease! Another extremely handy feature allows you to select text from any note and have EZNote automatically paste the text directly into any document in any running application. And of course EZNote supports all the standard text editing goodies, including changing fonts, styles, sizes, etc. EZNote comes with many PlugIns which allow you to modify selected text in any application. Strip Line Feeds from your email, get rid of all email reply >> > characters with one PlugIn keystroke or mouseclick. Also, you can create your own PlugIns sets! Previous users will appreciate that EZNote is now an application, no longer a Control Panel. As our users have requested, you can now have multiple windows open, each note can be greater than 32k, pictures can be mixed with text, and it fully supports drag & drop. I have settled on Mail Siphon, by Malia Software (http://www.maliasoft.com/) as my initial mail tool, with Eudora coming along behind when I've deleted everything I don't want. It's a nice program and has many more features than I'm going to need, but it solves my problem rather nicely. Thanks again! I don't think Apple made any computers (at least, no Macs; not sure about the Apple II series) which required soldering for changing a PRAM battery. AFAIK there are only 2 battery models used in Macs. It shouldn't be a problem for a dealer to have at least one of each type in stock. Best wishes, Christian. -- Christian F. I've always had intermittent problems getting even 1 page out of VPC 3 to my Laserwriter 12/640 via Appletalk over ethernet. Since I could never identify the conditions that trigger the problem, I couldn't get Connectix off their contention that there was no problem. I don't print much from VPC, but when I need to, I have to cross my fingers that any pages will come out of the printer. I might even be further ahead if it never worked -- at least then I might have a chance to find a cure. -- Dave Reiser dbreiser@earthlink.net ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 14 Jul 2001 22:37:47 +0200 From: Christian F Buser To: "Studio Arch.Carlo Bartoli" Subject: software for ISDN routers (A) "Studio Arch.Carlo Bartoli" wrote: >I'm looking for some kind of software (better if shareware or >freeware) that monitor ISDN connections to the internet. > >I'm working with a Zyxel 100 ISDN modem/router I don't know of a software, but the router should keep a record of the connections and which computer or application caused it. See in the router's manual how to access and interprete them (I don't have my manual at hand, but I n#know it is in, I use the same router model). Hope this helps.
