I would suggest that you do the following instead of editing /etc/modules.conf /sbin/e-smith/config set EthernetDriver1 vmxnet /sbin/e-smith/config set EthernetDriver1 vmxnet /sbin/e-smith/expand-templates /etc/modules.conf

instead of: /etc/init.d/network stop rmmod pcnet32 rmmod vmxnet depmod -a modprobe vmxnet /etc/init.d/network start
