Subject: [*] English-Italian 4.0 - Dictionary
English-Italian is an English/Italian dictionary for Macintosh users,
containing more than 22,000 English words with translations into
Italian. You can find all the entries that contain any particular
English or Italian word by typing or pasting the word into the Find box
and pressing the Return key. The dictionary collects all the entries
that match what you've entered, and displays the English and the Italian
side-by-side. You can copy words from the dictionary and paste them into
another document. You can collect English words (with their Italian
translations) in a separate window and study them together. If you have
Apple Text-to-Speech you can listen to the English vocabulary, and you
can type or copy other English text into a separate window and the
program will read it aloud.
You can use the dictionary in several ways to help you to study grammar.
The Italian translations include information about whether the English
word is a noun, an adjective, a verb - sometimes it's all three! You can
search for grammatical abbreviations, like "av" for "avverbio" and the
dictionary will display dozens of English adverbs with their Italian
translations. A separate window displays the English irregular verbs.
Suggestions from users have helped us to develop the dictionary into a
useful and easy-to-use everyday tool. The relatively low memory
requirement and the optional MiniWindow mean that many users can keep it
open to refer to while they work with other programs.
The dictionary was originally intended for Italian-speaking users, but
English-speaking users have found it almost as useful. The program
allows you to choose either English or Italian for the user interface
language (buttons, menus and dialog box). Choose "User Interface
Language=8A" from the Archivio (or File) menu.
English-Italian requires: Mac OS version 7.1 or higher and a minimum of
2600K of available memory (RAM).
English-Italian can be freely distributed, either online or on CD-ROM
without restrictions, provided that the original package is included.
English-Italian is shareware, if you use it for more than a week or two,
please register your copy. Once you have registered, you are considered
registered for all future versions of English-Italian, so you do not
need to pay any additional fees when you upgrade to a new version.

HandyMan is a Control/Desktop/Extensions Strip Launching Module.
It is designed to allow quick and easy access to applications, Control
Panels, Desk Accessories, Folders and other documents stored on your
Macintosh, without having to navigate through several "Finder Windows"
or through a multi-layered, hierarchical Apple menu.
It works by clicking on icons installed in a floating window, or
dropping documents onto them. This approach is much handier than
aliases that are on the desktop because the floating windows that
contain the icons can never be covered by windows. HandyMan also
requires a lot less desktop space than the same number of icons on the
desktop.
For more information, please read the Read Me file enclosed, or visit
the Web page:
http://www.club.innet.be/~ind0836/mac/HandyMan.html
changes for 2.0:
* Registration code added.
* Custom Sorting added (= by finder positions)
* Empty Trash added
* Trash no longer shows items inside. Was useless...
* contextual menu items show appropriate 'Bring To Front' when needed.
* added menu item for finder info
* optionKey for unresolved info/show
* Drop onto finder shows original
* Control Dropping on finder icon shows finder info for dropped items
* Faster when rearranging icons
* When At Ease is installed a scriptable Finder is assumed and thus All
icons will appear
* Invisible folders won't get added anymore...
* Propper name is filled in when alias resolve failed
* Fixed DisposeHandle(NULL)
* Fixed DrawPicture(NULL) when InfoBar was used
* Fixed creation of icons for added items (was wrong when toggled between
large and small icons)
* Fixed 'APPC' filetype introduced in 7.6
* Inserting in vertical iconlist improved.
* Moving files into Folders improved (works with OS 8.0)
* Compatible with OS 8.0 Clippings
* Added Delete and Find Original To contextual Menu
* Items starting with a - now show correct in contextual menu items.

over 75 Mac web pages, and contains some instructions on how to use anonymous
ftp and find files as well a format chart showing which programs decompress
and decode which files. Also there is a section on how to use certain files.
This archive contains both the text and html versions of the Mac-FTP-list.
To insure that the columns in the Format Chart section line up correctly the
document's text must be in a monospaced font such as Courier 10pt, Monaco 9pt,
or a PC equivalent.

Subject: [*] MicNotePad Lite 4.3.1
MicNotePad Lite 4.3.1 is a newly improved free version of Nirvana
Research's easy to use, reliable, digital no-tape recorder and transcriber
software for Macintosh.
Background operation, compression, reliability, variable speed, and
scriptability are some of the many features of MicNotePad Lite.
New in version 4.3.1 (since 4.2):
- works on desktop and tower Power Mac G3, and certain fast Macs
- new key combination
New in version 4.2 (since 4.1.4):
- optional "MicNotePad Control Strip Module" allows to start and
stop recording while you work in other application programs;
it can be installed from MicNotePad's full Special Settings menu,
although it requires " MicNotePad Init" to be installed already;
(while the MicNotePad control strip module does not function by
itself - it requires the MicNotePad application to be running
or it launches the MicNotePad application, and it requires the
MicNotePad init to be installed - it is powerful in combination)
On a PowerPC, MicNotePad Lite optionally allows speech recording in less
than 6MB per hour, or less than 100K per minute. On older 68k Macs that
number is 14MB per hour.
Among the many exciting features of MicNotePad Lite is the ability to play
back while still recording. You can't do that with a tape recorder!
MicNotePad is being used to record, review, transcribe, and archive
lectures, meetings, interviews, and radio shows, and for professional,
medical, and legal office dictation.

If you would like to have small windows with quickly identifiable icons on
your screen, instead of a bunch of look-alike collapsed window titlebars,
then MiniWin is for you!! It consists of two INITs that you simply drop
into your System folder.

more??
If you like what you see, you may purchase the full version, which is a
self-contained control panel, for the paltry sum of $20.00. Upgrades are
free to registered users! See the Read Me file for the details on the
extras you get when you purchase the full version. Thank you for trying

Nu Serif version 1.0; January 1, 1998; by Martin P. Pfeiffer.
Nu Serif is a font family that brings Apple Computer's "Espy Serif"
bitmap font to the printed page.
Features:
--You can use Nu Serif at any point size--without getting the jaggies.
--The registered version will include bold, italic and bold italic--great
for web browsing.
--Nu Serif, with it's high x-height, is a very readable font, on-screen

--It's a great companion font for Nu Sans.
About the Nu Serif font family:
Nu Sans is based on Apple Computer's "Espy Serif" bitmap font. Espy Sans

on computer screens. This bitmap font is used in the Apple Guide screens.
It is a serif companion for Espy Sans.
Now you can use Espy Serif on

Subject: [*] PowerMenu v2.2.1: A Contextual Menu Utility for MacOS 8 and 7!
PowerMenu is the definitive, comprehensive Contextual Menu
utility for MacOS. PowerMenu adds powerful commands to the Finder's
Contextual Menu under MacOS 8, and provides its own Contextual Menu
for System 7 users. PowerMenu's wide range of commands lets you:
- Open selected files into any running application
- Open selected files into any other application on your system
- Move, copy or make an alias of selected files into target
folders of your choosing
- Quickly open commonly used files or launch any application right
from your Contextual Menu
PowerMenu also features a unique implementation of "File Copy and
Paste", a powerful feature that lets you "pick up" files in the Finder
and "drop" them into a destination folder. PowerMenu even lets you
gather multiple files from different locations and move or copy them
all to a single destination with just a few clicks or keystrokes!
As if that weren't enough, PowerMenu also provides a pop-up menu,
accessible from any application, that lets you quickly open or launch
your commonly used files and applications with a single
click. PowerMenu's menus are all fully hierarchical, and are
automatically rebuilt in the background as you work.
PowerMenu v2.2.1, released January 5th, 1998, is a bug-fix release
and is a free upgrade for all registered users. Problems addressed
include bugs when pasting multiple files under System 7, pasting files
to the desktop under Japanese systems, moving files to a non-existent
folder, and incorrect refreshing of the contextual menu when "running
applications" is disabled. Enhancements include more intelligent alias
resolving for items on remote servers, less intensive background
activity and better compatibility with At Ease.
PowerMenu is heavily customizable and is optimized for both
Macintosh and Power Macintosh computers, meaning it will run at full
speed on whatever model you use. PowerMenu requires MacOS 8, System
7.5.x, or System 7.1.x with the Scriptable Finder installed. PowerMenu
is $15US shareware.
Permission is hereby given for PowerMenu to be included on any CD-ROMs
based on the Info-Mac file collection. (For other discs, please contact
the author for permission).

This file contains the source for Raven 1.3.1 a C++ framework for
Macintosh programming. Raven is similar to PowerPlant and MacApp but
takes full advantage of newer C++ features, has a more modular
structure, and makes extensive use of programming by contract. Raven is
freeware.
The primary changes in this release are:
* Works with CW Pro 2
* Made it easier to build small Raven apps. A minimal non-document oriented
Raven app with a handful of TPane subclasses can be as small as 430K
(release build).
* Fixed some problems with the Appearance Manager code in TWindow and some
of the control classes.
* TDocument supports the Navigation Manager.
* Floating windows can now contain MCommander's (eg TTextBox).
* TMenu supports the Appearance Manager command key modifier flags.
* The QuickDraw 3D classes have been improved a bit. In particular objects
descending from T3DSharedObject can now be copied and the iterator classes
now return items by value instead of using a counted pointer.
* Lot's of bug fixes and code tweaks.

There is a small (334 bytes) invisible file in my System folder
named fith. It has no creator or type codes. Can Opener yields the
following:
F length Length: Data:$xxx PartSIT! PartSIT! N odd offset --Data:$xxxxxxxx
Caret:$xxxxxxxx; il $xxxxxxxx Unrecognized routine name
Does anyone know where it might have come from and/or its purpose.

Subject: Windows 95 longer file names
I want to thank you very much for all the answers about hooking a mac up
to a Novell Network. I appreciate the time everyone took.
I am now running into a problem where PC disks are coming and instead of
saying there file name I am getting 7 characters and then a ~. I am
wondering if there is any utilities out there that will show longer file
names from Windows 95.
Please e-mail me personally at mogilner@srspeedy.com with any answers and
recommendations.
Thank you very much...
