It converts messages to the fax format and sends them to remote fax machines. The module can receive incoming faxes and route them as messages to the recipient(s). The module is multi-line, i.e. it can support several fax lines simultaneously. When installed together with the Voice Gate, the Fax Gate can route incoming faxes to any recipient (locally or over e-mail), it can implement fax-on- demand and other fax-center features. When installed together with the Print Gate, the Fax Gate can automatically print incoming faxes. The CommuniGate Fax Gate can also redirect incoming faxes to any Internet E-mail account or other fax numbers. The Fax Gate supports Class 2 and Class 2.0 fax modems connected via serial ports. Make sure that your modem really supports Class 2 or Class 2.0 faxing before you try it with CommuniGate Fax Gate. Many old fax modms support fax Class 1 only. The module itself maintains lists information, creating creation?of message digests, and message distribution. Actual message delivery is implemented with the CommuniGate kernel and other CommuniGate modules. Mailing lists used for message distribution can contain E-mail, Fax, Pager and other addresses supported within the CommuniGate system. The List Gate can maintain several mailing lists simultaneously. Each mailing list can have its own set of options. Since the List Gate receives all messages via the CommuniGate kernel, data conversions (as MIME decoding) are always performed. The List Gate supports the "feed" operation mode, when each posted message is immediately distributed to all subscribers. The List Gate supports the "digest" operation mode, when posted messages are composed into digests which are sent to the subscribers at specified times. The List Gate supports archiving of digests and retrieving retrieval of back issues via E-mail. The List Gate stores subscription lists as tab-delimited text files. It allows you to create applications that can easily manipulate with mailing lists. The List Gate is optimized to process large (multi-thousand subscribers) mailing lists effectively. When installed, it runs in background (no dedicated machine required) and: * stores all messages sent and received; * enables network access for CommuniGate users, maintains their mailboxes, queues, etc.; * loads and runs CommuniGate modules (i.e. FaxGate, UUCPGate, SMTPGate, etc.) and creates the run-time environment for those modules; * maintains system activity log; * implements routing algorithms; * maintains a resource database and provides access to that database for CommuniGate users and CommuniGate modules (fax cover pages, sounds, voice scripts, info tables, etc.). The CommuniGate services can be accessed with the CommuniGator client software. The client software allows you to compose and read messages, to manage your mailboxes, etc. It is also used by CommuniGate administrator to configure, maintain, monitor and control the CommuniGate server - locally or remotely. When the POPGate and SMTPGate modules are installed, the CommuniGate Server can be used as a messaging server for clients running not only the CommuniGator application, but plain POP-based mailers (as Eudora and Claris Emailer) - on any platform. Version History: 1.1 - (<<>>) - extended round/trunc to allow negative number of decimal places - inf/-inf are now handled correctly - "," now handled correctly - fixed some minor bugs in the calculator engine - fixed major bug which caused floating point heap to be slowly used up - variables are now stored in a linked list rather than an array - the number of variables is now limited only by available memory - added "No Rounding" item to the "Decimal" menu - the "New" item in the "File" menu is disabled/enabled as appropriate - cleaned-up various menus - cleaned-up grow - cleaned-up file handling - the "Save xxx before yyy" dialog now handles the "escape" key correctly - the way in which the calculator looks for things to evaluate in a line has been changed. - many buttons now add "()" or "(,)" to the end of their text. This can be prevented by holding down the option key when clicking the button. Holding the key down while clicking a button moves selected text to the insertion point. - replaced ":" with "?", "{" with ":", and "}" with ";". - fixed problem with insertion point sometimes "sticking" after answer. It will keep users informed of periods of unavailability with the user configurable subject and e-mail body. To examine this demo, simply double click and follow along with the context sensitive help system provided. For additional information, you may check the balloon help menu. How it works Users setup their mail account information and then create the vacation message they wish to have sent out. VacationMail is "Eudora-aware". So users of the popular public domain and commercial mail program will be able to configure VacationMail with two simple clicks - skipping the account setup step. The auto response system in vacation will only send one message per week to any one e-mail address and will not respond to messages from mailing lists or list servers. A full Unix based mail account is necessary for VacationMail to run properly since Vacation features in Unix require it. (e.g. You must have more than just a POP mail account.)
