OffiX2.1-i386-linux.tgz ----------------------- binaries for linux ELF. Needs X11R6. Comes with my own version of Xaw3d (no warranty, of course, and no support). OffiX2.1-solaris-X11R6.1.tgz ---------------------------- binaries for solaris. Needs X11R6.1. OffiX2.1.tgz ------------ sources. What's OffiX? ------------- The OffiX Project is an attempt to make Unix systems more user-friendly. It is a set of tools that can communicate with each other using an intuitive drag and drop scheme. The following tools are provided with OffiX: Files: a filemanager formely known as Xfm. Editor: a menu-driven text editor. Printer: a droppable print tool. Trash: a wastebasket from which you can undelete files. The Offix tools use a public drag and drop protocol called Dnd. Any X program can use this protocol to communicate with other programs. An Xt interface to Dnd is furnished with OffiX distribution. What's new in release 2? ------------------------ - Clipboard: a patched version of xclipboard - Execute: a general purpose wrapper to redirect the stderr/stdout of your programs to an X window. - Patches included to make the following programs DND compatible: bitmap (bitmap editor), xdvi (the famous dvi viewer), ghostview, xjed (text editor), goodstuff (the Good Stuff module of fvwm), wharf (the wharf module of bowman). There are other patches too. Check the home page. - Files incorporates the features of xfm version 1.3.2 and can communicate with Tycoon (an icon-based program launcher - see how it looks). Also, Files accepts command line arguments to start iconified or open several directory windows at startup. - Other minor modifications, bug fixes and improvements. What's new in release 2.1? -------------------------- Mainly a compatibility version intended to ease my task of solving compatibility problems. This version is known to compile on Solaris with X11R6.1 and gcc 2.7.2 and GNU make 3.74. Of course, it compiles on linux with gcc 2.7.2.
