Now that you have knews, subscribe to and look in c.o.l.a for the following: xrn, srln, slang

x-read-news is a sophisticated bench, with an old style appearence, and no tree of articles. However it is excellent fro use with knews, as it selects the groups that go into .newsrc

This isn't a news reader but you install it for slrn.

This works on the console, and in a colour xterm. It uses the SLANG VDU library, which you might fetch and install.
