Task Diagram Editor

Task Diagrams

Task Diagrams enable the designer to describe the dynamic organization of a target system. A Task Diagram shows Tasks, Events and the communication - i.e. the interchange of Messages - among them. For more information see the Task Design Reference manual.

The Tasks and Events are represented by specific icons and the Messages by arrows between them.

There can be any number of Task Diagrams in order to describe the Task Design Model. Each Task Diagram represents a special view on the dynamic structure.

Each Task Diagram can be identified by a unique name.

Pull-down Menus

The Task Diagram editor has four pull-down menus available, as follows:

Popup Menus

There are also popup menus available within the Task Design Diagram editor. These are activated by pressing the right mouse button. A different menu appears depending on the pointer position, relevant to the operations that are appropriate to the currently selected object and pointer position. There is a different menu for when you are:

pointing to an Task

pointing to an Event

pointing to a Message

pointing to a Message Point

pointing to Text

pointing within a selection frame

not pointing to a diagram object

In the last situation, ProMod-PLUS assumes that you want to Create an object.

Double-click on graphical objects

If you double-click on a graphical object this carries out the most commonly used command. The command started is different if you double-click on the label of an object or on the symbol excluding the label. For example, if you double-click on the name of a Task this carries out Alter on the Task name. If you double-click on the Task symbol outside the Task name this carries out Connect.

The following table shows the full list of commands carried out when double-clicking on objects.
